August 1, 2025 - York-Cambridge-London

The day started out with a nice buffet breakfast at the Hilton York Hotel (across from Clifford’s Tower) and then a long ride in the coach to London. We stopped in Cambridge for lunch and at the American Cemetery honoring WWII dead.  We arrived at our hotel (the Hotel Rui Plaza near Victoria Station) late afternoon and had dinner at the hotel restaurant.

People punting on the River Carn with the “Mathematical Bridge” made out of straight beams in the background.

Kings College. Central Cambridge was kind of a shopping mall zoo with lots of foreign high school tour groups. The most interesting shop I found was the world’s only store dedicated to Raspberry Pi computers.

The Kings College Chapel was spectacular.

Could it be a real live Kings College student?

Going back across the River Carn on the Kings College Bridge.

This was quite a moving place and it was nice to see that it was so well cared for.

Many thousands of names of war dead engraved on the wall.

Heavy brass reliefs of equipment used in WWII
