August 11, 2025 - Leaving the Loch for the Highlands
Had to take the ferry back across Loch Lomond to get back on the West Highland Way. There was some rain and midges, but only got one bite… under my watch band, of all places. Much of the trail was very wet.
Ardlui to Tyndrum, 14.5 miles
It was a very big caution sign but I didn’t see anything unusually dangerous about this bridge. Maybe there was a troll underneath?!
The River Falloch that flows into the north end of Loch Lomond
I definitely had wet feet after today’s hike.
The Macs Adventure app said that this would be a good place to stop for lunch because of the view.
This was the view. It had been clear cut very recently.
This is what the forest would have looked like a few months ago. And it will again when it grows back.
One of the understory plants.
A white lichen
It felt like a memory foam mattress
Sheep all over the place!

A midge bite
Haggis, Neeps (turnips) & Tatties (potatoes) for dinner.
