Today was all huge vistas across the highlands. There were a couple of high points but the whole way was spectacular. Nice and sunny too. Hiking out in the morning I passed lots of people packing up their campsites and everyone was wearing midge nets. Apparently the midges were terrible last night and this morning. I kept moving though and, even though I saw a few flittering around I got no bites.
A glacial erratic boulder and the West Highland Way off into the distance. The boulders were all over the place. I could just imagine all this land under hundreds of feet of ice.

A philosophical choice: should one take the softer wetter faster path and accept the possibility of muddy shoes or take the dry rocky slower path and consider sore feet.
A serious fence and gate that looked like it could keep out velociraptors and sheep!
Had to hike on the road for just a little while. There’s not much room when th garbage truck drives by.
It’s still a really good road for being more than 200 years old.
There were lots of these stone bridges of all sizes
A monument to Peter Fleming, Ian Fleming’s brother. He died of a heart attack here in 1971. Supposedly his hunting buddies decided that he would have wanted them to continue hunting so they left him here and finished their hunt before coming back to pick up his body.
It was really wet and boggy to get to the monument even though it was up a hill. The vegetation is like a completely saturated sponge.

Another cool old rock bridge that the trail goes over.
